Cass Business School Profile at MoneyScience
Business school rankings have become a business in their own right, but if you’re a student picking a business school for the first time, how do you navigate your way through the mass of information available?
In this week’s Cass Talks, Dr Rob Melville, Director of the MSc Management, suggests that rankings tend to focus on MBA programmes because they are the flagship for all business schools, but the relatively Masters in Management ranking pioneered by the Financial Times, has given many business schools the opportunity to raise the profile of Masters programmes.
Dr Melville comments: “We used the rankings as an opportunity to examine every single fibre within our structure, asking ourselves, ‘how we can make the programme better for the students?’ and ‘how can I make the student experience at Cass the best they’re ever going to get?’ and rankings are a part of that.”
“My advice to prospective students would be not to base
any decisions on rankings alone, they are, of course, a good high level indicator,
but looking for schools which possess the AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA triple crown
accreditation is also key. In addition, my advice would be to look at the
faculty, the culture of the school, and to take the opportunity to talk to
other students to find out whether the school suits you.”
